More than 30 locations

Besides the fort, a number of museums, the town hall, the library, the lyceum, the observatory, the old inn, the travel agency, the antique shop, a minaret from the Turkish period and the immense basilica we can also explore locations situated further from the center of the town, such as an enormous woodland, a Turkish bath, an ancient cemetery, a wine cellar from a several hundred years ago, a restorer’s workshop, and a family lodge in picturesque Szarvaskő. Apart from the real locations, however, ‘Yoomurjak’s Ring’ holds further surprises.

More than 30 actors

Throughout the game we get to meet a hotel receptionist, a bath attendant, a museum guard, a local historian, a porter, a doctor, a literary historian, a librarian, a security guard and many other characters. All these roles are impersonated by professional Hungarian actors. The main characters are played by well-known Hungarian stars and in the gangster’s role we see a famous, notorious Hungarian rapper.

More than 600 panoramic views

Thanks to the 1st person view control and the large number of panoramic pictures gamers will feel as if walking around on the streets and in the interiors of Eger in reality. Most of the panoramic pictures are not static; the loop movements of the characters and extras make the exploration of the locations even more realistic.

More than 1.5 hours of footage

The film footage, fit for an entire movie, is presented to the gamers in many small fragments (and, due to the character of the genre, the players will not necessarily see all of the footage); the movie scenes and dialogues, starting from half a minute to nearly 10-minute long, blend in seamlessly into the realistic environment, which is created by panoramic pictures.

Special sound recordings

The atmospheric background noises were recorded in the original locations, just like most of the dialogues. Besides the mostly electronically scored mood-enhancing tracks, music also has a special role in the riddles of the game. The production is exceptional in that it has a separate title song specially composed, which was created and performed by Pierrot (also the production’s game designer) in the Hungarian version and by the song’s other composer, the Irish singer Jamie Winchester in the English release.

Special puzzles

Among the puzzles that are perfectly incorporated into the game there are special ones, for example one, which helps decode the author Géza Gárdonyi’s ciphers, or a heraldry riddle, in which we have to create a family coat of arms based on a description. In addition, the main character, that is the gamer, will be challenged by Latin inscriptions coming into view in the old town all the time, by the labyrinth of wine cellars, by having to fabricate a 16th century bomb, by interpreting letters, notes and documents, and finally by Schubert’s unfinished symphony.

New interface elements

‘Yoomurjak's Ring’ is built up using the extended and renewed version of the AGON engine. In addition, new interface elements are used in the game as well. If we are tired of walking around in the town, we can use shortcuts for jumping between actual locations, all with the help of the MAP. Jonathan Hunt continuously records every important piece of information and conversation in the NOTEBOOK. By using the MOBILE PHONE, we can even videophone and text people. By using the CAMERA OBSCURA, faraway spots in the town can be observed from a distance, enabling us to avoid unexpected and troublesome encounters.
